The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Pakistan today signed a $335 million loan to help develop a Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) system in Peshawar, the capital city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The project will improve public transport of the city through a state of the art integrated BRT system.

Indoor air pollution, due to household solid fuel use, is responsible for a significant burden of disease in developing countries. Fuel choice is often associated with household income. However, many other socio-economic and environmental factors also influence the choice of fuel and the resultant indoor air pollution exposure. The aim of this paper is to assess the role of poverty on indoor air pollution in Pakistan through fuel choice.
In 2010 Pakistan was struck by its worst ever natural disaster, one fifth of the country was inundated by floodwater causing massive damage to infrastructure. Roads were submerged, bridges swept away, and many schools and hospitals damaged, affecting an estimated 20 million people. As the land was lost to water so were the livelihoods of the people as their crops and homes were destroyed and their livestock drowned.
