Pakistan today faces both acute poverty and severe environmental degradation. These challenges arise in part from the manner in which benefits from the use of resources are distributed, and it is in the distribution of benefits that a solution can be found. Public revenue in Pakistan is generated primarily through natural resources. In the current scenario, however, earnings from the extraction and use of high-value natural resources are mismanaged and seldom channelled towards those who are most in need.
