The new book, ‘Sustaining Life,’ is the most comprehensive treatment of this subject to date and fills a major gap in the arguments made to conserve nature.

A successful condominial sewerage program successfully implemented by WSP in Bolivia is now being promoted in Dakar by the local WSP office there. Community-led Total Sanitation approach (CLTS), initiated and scaled up in Bangladesh, was shared with India and has now been adopted by the government in over 426 districts.

Punjab has become the first state in the country to introduce environment education as a compulsory subject for all classes from I to XII in the state.

For the successful implementation and strengthening of environment education, the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) has released a monitory assistance of Rs 9 lakh to the state Government.

Addressing the workshop, PSEB vice-chairman Ranjit Singh Bajwa said many states had submitted proposals to MoEF to get this project, for which only Punjab was selected.
