The Asian Development Bank (ADB) approved a $2 million grant to finance relief efforts in the country following the recent floods and landslides that claimed the lives of over 200 people and damaged the homes and livelihoods of hundreds of thousands more.

Uganda joins the rest of the world today to mark World Environment day, designated by the United Nations to be on June 5 to enlighten countries on the importance of everyone preserving and enhancing the environment.

It is also estimated that fisheries and aquaculture contribute $US100 billion per year and about 260 million jobs to the global economy.
'Illegal fishing is contributing to overexploitation of marine resources. Norway has some of the best managed fish stocks in the world. This is because we have good routines for controlling catches. We are now increasing our support for developing countries' efforts to combat illegal fishing,' said Minister of Foreign Affairs Børge Brende.
